Caring Ministries
We seek to bring the love of Christ to those in need by responding to them with prayer, presence and care. Please see the descriptions of our many ministries below and let us know how we can help care for you or if there is an area where you would like to help serve! To get involved with serving, for more information or if you have any questions contact Sarah Chivington-Buck (ext. 203)
Stephen Ministers - Stephen Ministry is a church program within Rockland that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and community. Our Stephen Ministers work together with our pastors to reach more people with Christian care than our pastors can reach by themselves.
Caring Cards - This informal team sends cards to those experiencing illness, surgery or other challenges.
Caring Friends - Caring Friends visit regularly with members of the Rockland family who are unable to get to church. These visits provide a continuing connection with the church community.
Daily Bread Ministries - Daily Bread Ministries provide meals (either hot or frozen) to families who have been challenged with unexpected (and sometimes expected) circumstances. If you know of needs that we can help with, please let us know. Or join us and be a part of this rewarding ministry.
Grief Groups - “Companions in Grief” is an 8 week course for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. It is a safe and prayer filled space where participants can feel free to share their feelings of grief with trained facilitators and others who are grieving.
Prayer Requests - We have several ways for you to recieve prayer. If you have a confidential prayer request, we have a group of faithful men and women who will pray for you on our prayer chain. If you would like our congregation to pray for you we can place your request put in our Sunday morning bulletin. Also there are opportunities for you to receive prayer in person. Please contact Sarah Chivington-Buck (ext 203) for any of these prayer opprotunities.
Prayer Quilts - In the prayer quilting group we make simple quilts with a cross to be sewn on the back with an embroidered label. We designate the quilt for someone in our church who is in need of comfort, and we encourage the congregation to tie the quilt as they say a prayer for the person designated. The recipients are thus ‘covered in prayer’ from the Rockland family. All are welcome to join our group. We meet on most Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00pm in Fellowship Hall. This group will not be meeting over the summer
Prayer Shawls - Knitters pray for the recipients of the shawls they are making, so their prayers are woven into the fabric. This group meets the second Thursday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30am.

Fellowship Oppotunities
Church Picnic and Potlucks Several times throughout the year we like to offer church wide functions that draw all of our people together for food, fun, and fellowship. These are great places to meet new people and engage in building relationships with many people in our congregation.
Supper Club - is an 8 week social small group that rotates meeting in one another's home for a supper and building relationships.
Fellowship Hours - These are the times in between and after our worship services. We provide coffee, donuts and fruit to help encourage people to stay and connect with one another. Signing up to help serve and coordinate the fellowship hours is a great way to get connected and meet many people!
New Members and Come & Consider Classes - Our team is responsible for helping people get connected into the life of Rockland and we offer our Come & Consider classes frequently throughout the year for those people who would like more information about our church and to consider joining! We also host a New Members reception 1-2 times a year!
Hanging of the Green - this is one of our highlight events of the year! Advent and Christmas are wonderful times in the life of our church and at this event we decorate the WHOLE church in preperation for the season. We work hard and then share a meal together to celebrate the beauty of our church once it is all decorated!
Our team is invovled in many other activities and events throughout the year including Veteran recognition, Bright Sunday, and several other events so please keep posted through our "Events" tab!
