Global Outreach - Romania
Rockland outreach to Romania supports high school students with a scholarship program, educates younger children through Vacation Bible School, supports Urisor Romanian Orthodox Church and surrounding community, and we have also established an ongoing relationship with St. Mary’s house. Orthodox Church Partnership
We have established a unique and wonderful relationship with an Orthodox church in Urisior with a mutual vision of encouraging and exchanging with one another in a hope to build God's church. We have partnered with the Priest, Father Calin, and the community to develope ministry opportunities to reach their community through Vacation Bible Schools, House building, and several other endeavors. Currently we take a team annually to Romania to maintain and strengthen this partnership and to be a light and a resource as God leads.
St. Mary's House
St. Mary's House is a ministry that loves and cares for mentally challenenged adults. Caring for people with mental disabilities has been neglected within Romania for many years, and so to help support this unique and loving ministry is one that is near to many who go and see the wonderful impact it is having in the lives of these young adults.
Student Scholarship Sponsorship
One in Four students in Romania advance past the 8th grade. Without education the cycles and challenges of poverty conintue to esculate. One of the visions behind our scholarship program is to help 40 students continue their education goals and to fulfill their dreams of becoming the person God wants them to be. Although we currentl sponsor 40 students we will always listen if God challenges us to reach more. Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School has been one of the highlights of our partnership with the Orthodox church in Urisior. Doing youth ministry or children's ministry has never been a priority of the church in Romania and so for us to help teach and train them in how to do this is vital for the future of the church in Romania. We are excited about their desire to reach the next generation and we want to partner with them in whatever ways are most effective.
