Rockland has a Sister-Church relationship with the Ngaramtoni Lutheran Church, and an ongoing relationship with Selian Lutheran Hospital, both in Arusha, Tanzania. Through these relationships, Rockland has been supporting a variety of activities in Tanzania including:
- Completion of the Ngaramtoni Church Sanctuary – 2004
- The AIDS Orphans Children’s Center – 2005
- The Ebenezer Secondary School for Girls – 2006, 2007
- Selian Lutheran Hospital – Ongoing financial support since the mid-1980s
- Selian Hospice Program – 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007
Beyond Rockland’s financial support, each year since 2004, Rockland has sent a mission team to Arusha to work hand-in-hand with our brothers and sisters in Tanzania on a variety of projects. These teams have included pastors and parishioners, children and adults, men and women. Our guiding principle is that we help them with their programs, doing what they cannot do themselves or can do faster with our help. By working together in this way, we have not only made a difference in the lives of people in Tanzania, but we have learned much more about the needs there and how we can help. At the same time, we have been richly blessed by the associations with our brothers and sisters in Tanzania.
Rockland is committed to continuing the work in Tanzania. Would you like to help? Take a look at the 2007 brochure. |
